Layering Tips

Photos by: Nick Sutjongdro                         Jacket by: PacSun

Winter is finally here....sort of. Well it's been really cold lately, cold enough for me to wear this awesome jacket. In fact, it's sort of been my go-to jacket for the past month. So I wanted to also address the topic of layering. When it comes to layering, a lot of people just pile on the layers. Which is a terrible way to layer...well not really, you're technically still layering and keeping warm, but when you do, you're just an fashion onion.

Fash·ion on·ion

[fash-yuh n uhn-yuh n]
noun
1. A fashionisto/ta that has plenty of layers of clothes and zero layers of style. And also stinks.

But when it does come to layering, here are a couple tips to keep in mind.
1. Colors (Have coordinating colors, i.e. complements and other colors that go well together)
2. Details/Patterns (Floral dress shirt with a floral v-neck sweater doesn't make you dandy/dapper, it makes you look like a walking shrubbery, which....may be useful at times. but if you're gonna layer prints, most of the time, you'd wanna keep it to a minimum, with maybe just peeks of it to enhance the outfit)
3. Fit (idk how many times I emphasize this, but the fit/size of things really matter, don't wear an incredibly large cardigan with a tiny slim fitting leather jacket)

That's pretty much it that I can think of, I hope it helps! Now go out there and layer my cold stylers! And...hopefully you won't end up looking like a walking bush.

Candy Cane Lane

Photos By: Nick Sutjongdro           Sweater by: F21

So I've talked about dressing in camo to hide away from Aunt May's bunions, but what if....WHAT IF, you don't want to hide away. What if you wanna to be the joy of the party. Well let's think about it that way. Family gatherings consist of 20% adults 25% teens/young adults 100% kids! (it makes sense if you really think hard) And what do kids like? Candy! so this outfit is made to replicate the most yummiest of all candy canes, orange cream candy cane! That way, the moment you walk into a room, you'll be irresistible to everyone!...who likes candy cane that is. Either way, at least you'll still looks clean cut.

Family Matters

This isn't exactly the Christmas Eve post that most of you would probably be looking at/for, but it's close enough. You know when you're at those family gatherings and you kinda wish you could just disappear? Well now you can! This outfit is specially designed to be stylish for when da ladies are around (no, not at your family gatherings you sicko) and undercover when family members are around. Don't wanna talk to aunt May? Blend into the foliage! Amazing isn't it? Anyways I hope you guys have a holly jolly Christmas or something like that.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Photos by: Bethany Struble                             Shirt by: Pacsun                      Sweater by: H&M                      Pants by: Kasil Workshop

It's officially "Christmas Season"! I see folks running around wearing scarves and ugly sweaters and I think to myself...Bro it's only 70 degrees. But really. I feel as if cold fashion doesn't really exist too much in socal, well I mean it does in the mornings but come 12 PM, all the sweaters come off. Ironically the scarves stay on. Don't ask me why, it still baffles me. Even this look got unbearably hot by 12 PM. Probably more suited for a colder environment.

For this look, I decided to throw on this ginormous sweater to balance the denim levels. By only letting a little bit of denim shirt peep out, it creates more of a denim "accent" look instead of a denim heavy look, which isn't what I was going for in the first place. It's something I like to do with my shirts when I feel they're a bit strong aesthetically. Which is good! Denim on denim is doable and good in the right amounts, but some peeps just wanna break "the fashion law" and just throw on a bunch of denim pieces, which can be rather disastrous at times.

Things to think about when wearing denim pieces together:
-Color (if the two pieces vary greatly in color, it can either complement each other or...just make you look like your grandad...who wasn't very stylish)
-Amount (if you throw on denim everything, and they're all in the same texture and color, it sort of just blends it all together, making you look like a land whale..whatever that is)
-texture (DO NOT WEAR obvious jeggings with raw denim. ever. I see it and it's almost obvious that you bought your sh*t from TV late at night while watching CSI law and order. STAHP. honestly, I'm sure your pajama jeans are very comfortable but they don't go well with raw denim)
-Size (just like all clothing pieces, size is probably one of the most important things. Don't wear your tight *ss skinny jeans that you got from hot topic while trying to hit on the cashier, with your dad's old big Dole denim jacket. You'll look like a denim balloon. An ugly one. One Kylie wouldn't even wanna play with)

Alright I hope that all helps.

Kickin it old school

Photos by: Nick Sutjongdro                                     Pants by: Pacsun

Kind of a late blog post seeing as how this look was posted about a week or so ago, but you guys forgive me right? Anyways, here are a couple of the pictures from the shoot. I decided to go back to my old signature styles of being extremely basic and laid back for this outfit. This is what I'd usually wear on a day to day basis anyways, now I know what you're thinking, "liek omg peter, you're such a basic b*tch!" well yes reader, yes, you're right. I AM a basic b*tch. AND I LOVE IT.
